COVID Policy
The Wanderers Committee has closely monitored Government Covid updates over the past few months. While there may be some ambiguity around interpreting Covid-19 guidelines in sport in general, the Ministry of Health have stated that anyone who may have contact with students or is present at an education service at a time when students are also present must be partially vaccinated by 15 November and fully vaccinated by 1 January 2022.
Sport NZ’s stance is that volunteers involved with schools need to be vaccinated, even if the team is not related to the school. Schools are also starting to request proof of vaccination for those involved in secondary schools.
Wellington Wanderers strongly encourage all members participating in community cricket to be vaccinated to ensure the safety and wellbeing of themselves and others. This is of particular importance for those involved in junior and youth cricket or interacting with high-risk individuals. More information around the Covid-19 vaccination is available here.
To play for Wanderers on school grounds or against secondary school students you will need to be fully vaccinated by 1 January 2022 and willing to show proof of vaccination. This is in line with Sport New Zealand and Ministry of Health guidelines.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to our President, Willie Marshall to share your perspective with the Wanderers.
Thanks for your understanding and patience as we all figure out how we continue to safely play and grow the sport we all love!
