Inspiring the Next Generation: Wanderers Young Cricketers Programme Closes Season with Special Guest Jon Lewis

Our final Wanderers Young Cricketers Coaching Clinic was extra special because Jon Lewis, the head coach for England's Women’s Cricket Team, joined us!

This was an opportunity of a lifetime for our young cricketers who got the chance to learn from one of the best in the game. It’s moments like this young cricketers remember for a lifetime. A huge thank you to Jon Lewis, former England and Gloucestershire cricketer for investing his time and energy into our young cricketers. Our game and cricket community is better off because of the generosity of coaches like you!

Season Wrap-Up: Wanderers Young Cricketers Programme 2023/24

What a season it's been for our Wanderers Young Cricketers! As we wrap up our second year of running this Programme we want to say a big thank you. It was amazing because of everyone involved. This whole programme is about giving young players from schools all over Wellington a chance to access top quality coaching and mentorship, especially to those who might not usually get the support and opportunities from the more well resourced schools.

A huge shout-out to our volunteer coaching team this season: Duncan Murray, Joe Austin Smelie, Justine Dunce, and our special guests Nathan Smith, John Lewis, Mike Bracewell, Caitlin King. And of course, Hamish Marshall, who’s been the heart of the programme, keeping everything running smoothly each month.

This whole Programme only works because of volunteers. Each coach and person invests their time and energy out or their love for giving back. It's all about helping young cricketers grow and enjoy the game. We're really thankful for everyone's hard work and generosity.

We want to keep making this programme better and reach even more young players from schools that don’t get given opportunities. If you like what we’re doing and want to help out, whether by volunteering, donating, or any kind of support, we’d love to hear from you. Your support can make a big difference.

Thanks to everyone for an unforgettable season. Here’s to growing more as players and coaches on and off the field.
